The music mogul was left extremely impressed with the singer after his appearance on the talent show's finale on Wednesday and thinks that the 47-year-old could be a good fit for the empty slot, reports Extra.
"Actually, he'd be good. He's funny. He's got experience. He'd be a good choice - and you saw the audience reaction to him. They love him," he said.
Michaels was equally excited to discuss his possible future with the show.
"I'm sorry [Cowell] has to go but sometimes things happen," he joked. "Provided my health holds up, I think I'm taking that chair next year!"
