The 7pm Project

It's main job was to capture the vast majority of the audience that tuned in for the massive juggernaut that was Masterchef Australia, but unfortunately The 7PM has really failed to even be an interesting show.

The standout for the cast is Carrie Bickmore - famous for her comedy newsreading on the Rove program, she is the only cast member that has translated to this format - which in itself is ill defined and quite painful to watch.

The placement of Ruby Rose - although she is a lovely gal - is a total mistake, either she was totally nervous, or seriously cannot perform well on TV... if her performance is anything to go by - this would signal the end of her TV hosting career. Can we get over the fact that she likes girls and is into leather??? hmmm watching the interview with the girls from GI Joe, was like watching a drunken bar chat at 4am in the morning - and the camera work didnt help either!

Charlie Picking is an odd choice too - from voice over man on the comedy channel, to a position on Talkin' Bout your Generation - to this? Who's his agent as they can obviously do their job well! Who tested him, and what's his appeal? Sounding like a news reader, does not make you a good host, nor does it instantly make you funny or relevant.

Dave Hughes it seems is starting to stretch himself too thin, with early mornings, late nights and everything in between - its a shame, cos the funny bloke deserves a better platform than this. His presence makes the 7pm Project a poor version of ROVE.

All in all this format really has no legs - it has no direction and offers no real substance in any way it heads. Touted as a part of "news" - it really isn't - its social commentary - and alas, not funny - in fact it smells like Channel 10 has its very own "Catch Up" - the bombed channel 9 rip off of 'The View'... on it's hands.

Some interesting Twitter comments as it went to air...

jasmus Watching the 7pm project, the self indulgent orgy of cross promotion with unfunny people. Didn't expect much more.

wouldz is seriously underwhelmed by the 7PM project.

moniquelouisebo meow. the 7pm project isn't as good as i thought it would be. OH BUT JULIE IS ON. I LOVE HER

tollplaza The 7pm Project: Alright so far. Will hopefully get better once a few episodes go down. -Really- needs an audience, IMO.

Kieran_Murphy @DHughesy Good job with the 7PM Project. It's a much better watch than the latest "Dodgy Scam" or "The truth about " on ACA/TT

Watching the toilet flush is more entertaining.

I must remember not to flush the toilet tonight. Seeing whats left in the bowl will make for better viewing than the 7PM Project.
